Rock & Republic Spring 2009 RTW

Theme: Rock Chick All Over the Place meets New Era Heroin Chic

Was this collection designed specifically for me?! Because that's sure what it felt like going through it.

Dark denim, leather, zippers and studs - oh, my!

That is, not to say that this collection looked like you had arrived at Wacken. The typical "rock chick" can look sophisticated at the office too, you know.

A large portion of the show consisted of super-mini skirts and dresses (all in black, white or both), each completely Alice Dellal-drunk-at an indie NY club- worthy.
Then there were those skinny bitch-skinny jeans and leggings, paired with (what appeared to be) leather blazers, accessorized with a few zippers here or there and encrusted with studs.
Tops were kept quite simple - in black or white - mostly shiny button-downs or tank tops.

Accessories were kept to a minimum, most likely due to the designer wanting to keep to the authenticity of the theme: can we hardcore rocker girls really headbang and play the air-guitar, drunk, while jumping on tables, if we're drenched in bangles, necklaces and earrings? Answer: no, it's too difficult.
Beauty hit the bull's-eye too, with messy I-just-rolled-out-of-the-bed-with-a-terrible-hangover- hair and yesterday's black eyeliner/eyeshadow, with nails charcoal black.

Overall: seriously, I would wear any one of those ensembles - any day (naturally, if I had a model's body)!

NOTES:

- The collection included several male models, sporting some rather emo-looking gear.
- One dress was black and sheer, so that we could all see the model's cute white panties.

Rock on.
