Icon: Twiggy

Reason: She Changed the Face of the Modelling World.

Twiggy.
She started off as the face of Swinging London in the '60s, but eventually became the face of the decade.

Born Lesley Hornby, Twiggy revolutionalized the modelling industry.
Back in the day when models were all posh socialites, Twiggy came from a working-class family, was tall and extremely skinny (a rail figure, weighing only 41 kg) - a definite faux-pas at the time for models.

Nevertheless in 1966, during the hype of the Mod-era, Twiggy took the world by storm after being discovered, then photographed by Barry Lategan in her slender, wide-eyed, pixie haired glory (her trademarks that are still recognizable to this day).

She inspired the trend of drawing long, fake eyelashes under her bottom lashes, which was copied by Mod girls all over the world.

I think Twiggy had such an interesting and cool look. Though it's more specific to the decade, I still find it timeless.

Another one of my heroes.

Rock on.
