Best of 2008: Red Carpet - Part I

This past year has been a great year for fashion.
All the shows, all the trends... and all of these can be seen put together on the Red Carpet.

10: Thandie Newton in Alexander McQueen at the BAFTA's

Thandie is very elegant and sophisticated when it comes to her taste in fashion. Her appearance at the British Academy Film Awards gave us no reason to think otherwise when she stepped out wearing this chic McQueen dress, adding a dash of colour with a pink waist-clinching belt as her major accessory.

I must say, I'm loving the fact that it's kind of like a one-shouler piece, but not really because of the sheer lace arm. The slit at the bottom adds some more sexy to the look.

9: Taylor Swift in Badgley Mischka at the Costume Institute Party of the Year

I've never heard any of her music, but I'll have to admit: Taylor's had some really nice choices. Here she is (photographed with the designers) in a simply elegant gold sequined gown.

I love it because it looks a little mermaid-y, but totally awesome.
I would've probably worn it with a messy ponytail or something, but that's just me.

8: Coco Rocha and Anja Rubik both in Emilio Pucci at the Costume Institute Party of the Year

They might not be over-the-top celebs, but these girls are Super Models. In my opinion, that's way cooler.

Coco (left) wore a drapey sequined dress, which has a kind of 80's feel to it (at least the colours, pattern and texture), while Anja (right) opted for a more geometric pattern, channeling 70's hippie chic with a modern twist.

These looks are not typical Red Carpet looks - and I love them.

7. Rihanna in Zac Posen at the Grammy Awards

We've all noticed how Rihanna has a slightly... eccentric taste in clothes. But this blue Zac Posen mini dress is perfect for the Grammy Red Carpet.

It's not a typical muffin-mini. The structure is nice and the bustier is kinda Madonna-esque.

Lovin' it.

6. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in Diane von Furstenberg at the Costume Institute Party of the Year

The ever-so stylish duo showed up wearing gowns that were completely dissimilar - but totally true to their own signature styles.

M-K wore a gold empire wasited long sleeved dress with a loose up-do, while sister Ashley wore a black figure-hugging piece with slits on the sides.

Mary-Kate was more boho (shocker) and Ashley more sexy, but both looked pretty damn fabulous.

Rock on.
