Celebs & Models: Heidi and Adriana, Kate and Paris

Event: Victoria's Secret Annual Fashion Show in Miami Beach

When it comes to the party scene, it is safe to say that this one takes the cake.
Consisting mostly of Victoria's Secret Angels and top-notch celebrities, this year's fashion show took place at the lush Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida.

The models strutted their hot stuff on the runway, wearing wings and jewelled lingerie, after which they posed some more on the Pink Carpet (what? did you really think the Angels would settle for a boring old Red Carpet? please).

Über hotties Marisa Miller and Adriana Lima posed together, blowing kisses to all, wearing little cocktail dresses.
Marisa opted for a sexy black, crumpled number with a bit of a plunging neckline, while Adriana took the girly route in a satin baby-pink dress with a dash of gray on the hips.
Bitches.

Heidi Klum (with husband Seal), looked as adorable and elegant as ever, in a strapless black dress, accessorized with a waist-clinching belt.

The show itself took place on a Saturday, but what's a fashion show without a pre-party to heat things up?
Chloe Sevigny, Kate Hudson, Paris Hilton, Gwyneth Paltrow - even Martha Stewart! - (to name a few) all made an appearance at the newly renovated hotel's reopening bash.

Amanda Bynes wore a white frilly skirt (à la Mary Had A Little Lamb) over a simple black T, with a simple black clutch and peep-toe booties.
Classic, clean, simple, yet totally effective!

One of my personal favourites of the night was Kate Hudson. She looked totally drop-dead-gorgeous in a turquoise/blue Alexander Wang dress and simple black pumps.
This woman always manages to look effortlessly classy and sexy, but still fresh and young.

Miss Paris Hilton gave her usual statuesque pose in a sequined emerald green dress, paired with gold heels, and a rather expensive looking piece of jewelry hanging from her neck.
Nice.

From The Archives: Alexander Wang

Season: Spring 2008 RTW

I have to admit, this collection slipped by me almost a year ago. I had been paying too much attention to Lagerfeld and Galliano that I forgot to check out some of the new-comers.

Though Alexander Wang's debut was his Fall 2007 RTW (which was also spectacular), I chose to focus on this collection. It has that certain je ne sais quoi. It is the epitome of cool, which comes as no surprise as the designer himself is only 23.
He knows what the models like to wear (and let's face it, the models are the ones everyone should be following) and he's able to translate that into something we less-than modelesque followers can pull off.

It's NYC cool, meets 80's power suit - perfect for looking professional, but still like you had just thrown anything on.

I don't care if this collection is "so two seasons ago".
THIS is what I'll be wearing this coming Spring; blazers with sleeves cramped up to elbows à la 80's Miami Vice, ripped denim cutoffs, men's shirts tucked into loose jeans rolled slightly above the ankles, thin belts over shirt-dresses, and heels with black socks.

The main thing I love about it: it doesn't look beachy.

Tribute: Lindsay Lohan vs. PETA

Location: VIP Room Theatre in Paris

StyleUnicorn has very strict rules against wearing animals:
1) No fur.
2) No real leather.
3) No fur.

That's why I would like to dedicate a post for this very special occasion.

Now, everyone knows PETA's reputation.
They throw blood or paint at celebs who wear fur, and have demonstrations at celebs' premieres who wear fur.

But this occasion is very close to my heart.

Finally, someone has done something to Lindsay Hohan.
Yes, I have posted her before and will continue on doing so because, I must admit, there are certain outfits that I like of hers.
Like this one for instance. She was wearing YSL Tribute (oh the irony) pumps, and a blue Topshop sequin dress. They're nice.

But she is, indeed, wearing fur.
PETA has hated Hohan in the past, and they still do... and now they're acting out.

Check out this clip on YouTube.
All you can hear is Lindsay yelling "Oh my God! Oh my God..." and walking away. HA!

This isn't a gossip site, so I won't get too much into that, but since PETA and fashion was involved, I figured this issue is relevant.

Trend: Statement Bags

Celebs: Ashley, Leighton, Victoria, Sienna

All stylistas (I don't like the word "fashionista") know that the key to a sick outfit is either a) killer shoes (which is an entirely different post, and will be discussed another day), or b) a to-die-for bag.

Ashley Olsen was caught walking around with a coffee in-hand (shoker), looking very casual in a simple black sweatshirt, jeans and flats (and Chloé sunnies). A bit of a boring outfit right?
Well, notice what she is also carrying around: a navy YvesSaintLaurent Easy Y bag. Makes a difference, doesn't it? It's a very laid-back, yet completely appropriate finishing touch.

Leighton Meester - or should we say, Blair Waldorf - is on the set of Gossip Girl with a red, patch-work Christian Dior handbag. A very sophisticated choice for a very sophisticated outfit.
This is a perfect example of how matching can end up working to your advantage.

Everyone's favourite skinny-bitch style icon Posh was spotted shopping at Saks with her son, looking every bit as elegant as she always does. Her choice? Why the classic Hermès Birkin bag. It's powerful, it's practical, it's totally desirable.

Last but not least, welcome back Miss Sienna Miller!
Apparently Sienna's been in hiding because her high profile relationship with some dude I've never heard of was rather controversial and the press had a field day with with and the poor girl's feelings got hurt. Whatever. It's no reason to stay inside and not be photographed wearing something fabulous, but I'm not hear to judge.
The hippie-chic turned modster chose a cute little crocodile-skin (not sure if it's real) B Romanek "Rockstar" clutch. Though it's not over-sized, it works. Simplicity is the theme she's going for, and may I say it's a rather nice outcome.

Whether it be a tote, a hobo, a pouch, a clutch, a messenger, a canvas, or a good old shoulder bag, there are a few rules/guidelines to using your "It"-bag:

1) The bigger, the better! Simply because you get more space for necessities. Plus, bigger bags always look more flattering. Even over-sized clutches are totally hot.
2) Make sure that the bag is always event/location appropriate. Do not (I repeat: do NOT) wear an evening bag during the day or vice versa. It's just bad taste.
3) Don't be afriad to clash. The old match-your-shoes-with-your-purse deal is so '50s. Be careful though that the clash doesn't appear too messy.
4) Splurging can be a good thing. No matter how much I love cheap stuff, sometimes it's better to spend more on quality.
5) Pick a theme. If you're going for glam-rock, have a badass bag. If you're going for romantic, have a cute bag. It's not very difficult.

Ashley's bag: 7/10
Leighton/Blair's bag: 8/10
Victoria's bag: 10/10
Sienna's bag: 8/10

Trend: LA Chic

Celebs: Audrina Patridge, Lauren Conrad

Who better to show us how LA chic is successfully pulled off than the stars of The Hills?

It's a well known fact that most beauties on the west coast opt for a more laid-back look; skirts or dresses, sandals or flip-flops, happy colours, and flowy fabrics.

Nevertheless, here we have two Los Angeles based celebs pulling off a more sophisicated look.

Audrina was spotted leaving the Apple Lounge in Hollywood, wearing black tights, blank tank and sleeveless olive-green cami.
To top off the look, she wore black Chloé wraparound boots.
It's a very simple yet totally effective outfit.

Lauren was out and about in LA, sporting a Chanel (ah!) medallion tote, Chanel pearls (gorgeous darling), dark denim skinny jeans and a grey shirt. Plus: Christian Louboutin pumps!
Miss Conrad always has very classy style and this is no exception. She looks casual, but very professional and stylish.

The Seven "LA Chic" must-haves:

1) Dark skinny jeans
2) Neutral or earth-tone tops and shirts
3) A big black tote - preferably designer, such as Chanel or Hermès
4) Big sunglasses (for daytime)
5) Heels/boots
6) Statement necklace
7) Hair; pony-tail for daytime, loose for night.

Audrina: 6.5/10
Lauren: 8/10

Celeb: Lindsay Lohan

Event: Harper's Bazaar December 2008 Photoshoot

This probably can't be entirely credited to LiLo, since it was probably a stylist on set that put this outfit together.

Nevertheless, I must say, I'm kinda liking it.
DKNY jeans (à la Katie Holmes), Louis Vuitton glove and a Dian von Furstenberg jacket.

Not a bad combination.

It kind of has an urban-feel, which isn't necessarily my thing, but let's say the DvF jacket was black, and instead of the cutesy little top underneath, it were a black wife-beater.
Nice visionary, eh?

It's almost genius.

Celeb: Mischa Barton

Event: DSquared and W party in LA

You know, Mischa's fast becoming a regular here.
Lately, a lot of what she wears is quite nice.
When I think back (like, waaay back to the OC- days), Mischa started out as a strong contender. She had rather promising style, very L.A. hippie chic.

However, after leaving the OC, she just became a train-wreck.
There were aspects that would work, but as a whole, her ensemble generally looked like she had gotten dresses in the dark.

But look at the girl now!
She's dressing APPROPRIATELY. First there was Burberry and now this. No longer does she go to parties looking like a coked-out mess (and not in the good sense), but she's gone back to the hippie-chic with a dash of sophistication.

Here she is in a white DSquared Grecian-inspired gown.
Like the accessories too.
